Roots of Humanity (“we,” “us”) is a nonprofit foundation building the King & Diane Husein Sphere of Light. This policy explains what information we collect through rootsofhumanity.org, why we collect it, and the choices you have. If you have questions, contact us at tech@rootsofhumanity.org.
What we collect and why
When you donate. We collect your name, email, billing address, and payment details, plus anything you choose to add, like a dedication or a note. We use this to process your gift, send a receipt and thank-you, and keep the records we are required to keep. Payments are handled by WooPayments or Stripe. We never see or store your full card number.
When you buy from our shop. We collect your name, email, billing and shipping address, phone number (if requested), and order details. We use them to fulfill your order, send confirmations, and handle returns or questions. Payment is processed by WooPayments or Stripe. Shipping details may be shared with carriers to deliver your order.
When you send a meeting request. We collect what you enter in the form, such as your name, email, phone number, organization, and message, and use it only to respond to you and schedule the meeting.
When you leave a comment. We collect the information in the comment form, plus your IP address and browser details to help detect spam. If you choose, your name, email, and website can be saved in cookies for one year so you do not have to retype them.
When you browse the site. We use Google Analytics, through the MonsterInsights plugin, to understand how people use our site. It collects things like pages viewed, how you arrived, your device and browser type, and approximate location, using cookies or similar identifiers. We use this to improve the site, not to identify you personally. Google’s use of this data is described at business.safety.google/privacy. We do not share analytics data with Google for its own purposes.
When you see or click our products on Google. We use Google for WooCommerce, Google Merchant Center, and Google Ads to list our shop products on Google and, if we run ads, to measure whether they lead to purchases. This means we share product information, such as titles, prices, images, and availability, with Google. If we run ads, Google may use cookies or similar identifiers to recognize that a visit or purchase followed an ad click. We use this information to understand how well our ads and listings work, not to identify you personally. Google’s use of this data is described at business.safety.google/privacy. You can manage how Google personalizes ads at adssettings.google.com.
Cookies
We use cookies to keep the site working (like remembering items in your cart), to run analytics, to remember your comment details if you ask for them, and to measure whether our Google listings or ads lead to donations or purchases.. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, though parts of the site, such as the shop, may not work properly without them.
Embedded content
Our news posts may include videos, images, or other content from other websites (such as Facebook, Instagram, or other social media). Those sites may set their own cookies and collect data about you, just as if you had visited them directly.
Who we share information with
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers who help us run the site and our work, and only as needed:
- Payment processors (WooPayments and Stripe) to handle donations and purchases
- Shipping carriers to deliver shop orders
- Our website host, GoDaddy, which stores site data
- Google, for website analytics, product listings, and advertising measurement
- Akismet to screen comments for spam
We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights or the safety of others.
How long we keep information
- Donation and order records: Until we delete them for storage purposes or until requested by you
- Meeting request messages: 2 years
- Comments and their details: Until we delete them for storage purposes or until requested by you
- Analytics data: 2-5 months
Your choices and rights
You can ask us to tell you what personal information we hold about you, correct it, or delete it, except where we need to keep it for legal, tax, or security reasons. Submit a comment form on the home page and we will respond within 30 days. If you are in the EU, UK, or California, you may have additional rights under local law, and we will honor them. You can also opt out of Google Analytics with Google’s browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
Children
This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Security
We take reasonable steps to protect your information, but no website or online service can guarantee complete security.
Changes to this policy
If we update this policy, we will post the new version here and change the effective date above.
